Livia and Chris had quite possibly one of the most perfect summer days for their Rockport, Maine wedding. It was a welcome break from the sweltering Saturdays I’d been working all summer long. I hadn’t been up to the Samoset Resort in a number of years and I was pleasantly surprised to find the place newly renovated. It looks amazing!

Livia was getting ready in an enormous sun-filled room. She and her ladies were so laid back and joyful — a good sign at the start of a wedding day for sure. Wanting special moments together in private, Livia and Chris decided to see each other before the ceremony. This afforded us some wonderful, quiet, stress-free time to walk around the Samoset’s gorgeous seaside grounds for pictures. We were able to go all the way down to the Breakwater and still had time to get some of the group shots as well.

It’s really hard to beat the relaxed feel of a seaside wedding at a resort like the Samoset. This wedding was certainly no exception to that rule. Ceremony and cocktails hour was under a blue bird sky, dinner was with long rays of sunlight streaming in through the sides of the tent, and as the sun went down guests meandered around the property taking in the beautiful sunset. It was a spectacular day. Of course, then the DJ cranked up the music and the dance floor was jammed all night long.

Best wished to Livia and Chris! Many thanks for having me photograph your beautiful wedding. It was a true honor to be a part of your day.

Some highlights of the day are below and you can see more here.

Something happened at Claire and Nelson’s wedding that still has me freaked out months later: I had a beetle stuck down my shirt for most of the reception! It wasn’t until I got home and peeled my sweat soaked clothes off me that the damn vermin fell out of my shirt! Cringe! In my defense, this was the steamiest date of the summer and there were a lot of bugs flying about. I would like to think that this goes to illustrate my focus and dedication while on the job…

Other than my entirely inappropriate encounter with that bug, Claire and Nelson’s wedding was nothing short of amazing. My jaw hit the floor when I first drove up to the property. Claire’s parents’ historic property is stunning. Walking around I found countless spots for pictures and loads of sweet, natural details. I love weddings that take place at a home. There is always a really chill vibe–everyone is so relaxed and comfortable even when there are stressful things going on all around. Claire and her family are the kind of hosts that put you at ease and make you feel welcome right away.

What can I say but the day was full of joy, laughter, and love. Looking back over these images I can’t believe all of these gorgeous moments actually happened–it seems impossible one event would have so much. Many thanks to Claire and Nelson and to their families and friends for giving me such awesome moments to document! And best wishes to the newlyweds. May their life together be filled with as much joy and laughter and love that surrounded them on their wedding day.

I posted a bunch of favorite images below, and there are many more to see in this slideshow.
