Spruce Point Inn Wedding | Maine Wedding Photography by Amy Salerno
January 15, 2014A quintessential seaside Maine wedding with a southern twist? Oh yeah, this wedding definitely delivered. Sarah and Stephen planned a destination wedding complete with a rehearsal dinner lobster bake, lobster trap decorations and twin lobster logos on all of the wedding signage, and soft cotton bolls in the bouquets, boutonnieres, and centerpieces. Boothbay Harbor’s beautiful seaside Spruce Point Inn made for the perfect location for the wedding. Sarah had meticulously planned and organized her wedding day, and she impressed me with her ability to let the day unfold on its own even when things — like the weather — didn’t go according to plan. I think some brides might have been crushed when the wedding day started out sunny and turns into a monsoon in the middle of the family photos. But not Sarah. She and Stephen braved horizontal rain and scary dark skies for pictures on the dock and rocks. The videographer even bailed on us because of the extreme weather! I am so grateful for Sarah and Stephen were willing to tough it out because the images we got are beautiful and a true representation of the their day.
It was with much sadness that I learned of Stephen’s father’s passing shortly after the wedding. At the wedding his father was nothing short of kind and accommodating, and his joy and pride for his son was evident. Preparing the images for them, knowing of their terrible loss and that the pictures we took that day were now even more precious, really drove home the reason why I work so hard at this.
Cheers to Sarah and Stephen. I know you are going to have a lifetime of joy and gratitude together.
