I took a lot of ribbing from\u00a0local Mainers for calling Norridgewock “the country.”\u00a0\u00a0To me rolling green hills,\u00a0winding rivers,\u00a0dirt roads, and spotty\u00a0mobile phone service\u00a0equals the country regardless of how\u00a0close a place is\u00a0to a shopping center with Target and Best Buy.\u00a0\u00a0 Lisa and Todd’s wedding was at Lisa’s family home, and it pretty much fit the bill for a countryside location complete with a barn and fields of tall green grass.\u00a0 After a minor directional error (lesson learned:\u00a0 DO NOT attempt to take a Honda Accord off-roading), I still managed to arrive\u00a0early.\u00a0 I was\u00a0warmly greeted by Lisa’s father and\u00a0found everyone\u00a0was busy with pre-wedding prep.\u00a0 Lisa’s parents’ home is a gorgeous white and red farm house\u00a0surrounded by\u00a0beautifully landscaped flower gardens.\u00a0 The front porch featured the requisite rocking chairs,\u00a0weathered seats, and Americana crafts.\u00a0 I loved it immediately.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The tone for the day was set from the very beginning — everyone was so kind, thoughtful, and welcoming that it made for a very easy wedding shoot.\u00a0 The weather fully cooperated, which was a shock.\u00a0 We got great overcast skies which gave us\u00a0nice soft lighting\u00a0for the family portraits and\u00a0 gorgeous glowing sunshine for the romantic shots of the bride and groom.\u00a0\u00a0Later in the evening\u00a0mist started to fill the valleys and clouds darkened the horizon\u00a0— a feast of moody light and texture\u00a0for a photographer.\u00a0 I know it seems ridiculous to talk so much about the weather, but in Maine it really plays such a huge role in how a wedding day goes down.\u00a0 And\u00a0to a photographer, the light is the most important element — I spend all day chasing it.\u00a0<\/p>\n
