\u00a0Driving to weddings here in Maine is an adventure all its own. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Armed with a modern GPS unit as well as reams of Google maps, I still end up getting lost.\u00a0 <\/span>That is why I breathed a big sigh of relief when I came across the first of many roadside signs directing me to Joan and Jay\u2019s wedding. \u00a0<\/span>The destination was the groom\u2019s family\u2019s summer place on Westport Island.\u00a0 <\/span>With stunning views and requisite old barn, this place is a photographer\u2019s dream.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Weddings held at private residences always have such a wonderfully low key feel to them.\u00a0 <\/span>This one was no exception.\u00a0 <\/span>Everyone was pitching in and lending a hand where needed. \u00a0<\/span>By the time the guests arrived it had started to rain fairly heavily, and talk started of moving the ceremony under the tent.\u00a0 <\/span>No one wanted to give up on having the ceremony on the lawn overlooking the water so we debated and waited.\u00a0 <\/span>The couple counted on the patience of their guests and was not disappointed.\u00a0 <\/span>Everyone gladly helped move tables and chairs in anticipation of the ceremony being under the tent.\u00a0 <\/span>And when the skies began to clear, not a single grumble could be heard when it was decided to go back to plan A \u2013 only the guests would have to stand.\u00a0 <\/span>In fact, when the ceremony started and Joan made her way down the \u201caisle\u201d to meet Jay, the crowd cheered and erupted in applause.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The rest of the day sort of followed that trend \u2013 lots patience, love and laughter, good food (have I forgotten to mention all of the yummy pies?!), and a \u201cthrilling\u201d dance number.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
