Elopement at Nubble Light

September 1, 2010

Jenn and Jodie originally contacted me about photographing their 200 guest wedding at a nearby venue on 10/10/10.  This particular venue penalizes couples for bringing in outside vendors (boo), and Jenn decided they would just have to go with someone through the venue.  Fast forward many months.  Jenn and Jodie did a complete 180 and instead started working on plans to elope at the Nubble Light in York, Maine.  I could not have been more thrilled to receive that email from Jenn, asking me to photograph it.  So it was that I packed up my gear on a Tuesday and headed down on a perfect Maine summer afternoon to shoot my first ever elopement.

Nubble Light (Sohier Park) is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike.  There was not a chance that this would be a private ceremony.  The crowd politely cleared off the rocks and kept a discreet distance from us as Jenn and Jodie exchanged vows and rings.   Afterwards Jenn and Jodie happily allowed me to photograph them to my hearts content. We had to race the quickly setting sun, but I think we managed to get some amazing images.  My hope is that their friends and family who were not able to witness the ceremony feel like they are reliving a part of it with these pictures.

Congratulations to Jenn and Jodie!  I look forward to seeing you all in December when Baby arrives!

A Kennebunkport Wedding

August 31, 2010

I headed down to the Nonantum for the second time this season. The difference between May and August was astounding.  The flower gardens were in full bloom, and kayakers and boaters meandered past the lighthouse at a leisurely pace befitting a hot summer day.  I wanted to linger amongst the huge dinner plate dahlias and fragrant herb gardens, but duty called.

I found Meghan and was instantly struck by her amazing smile (that never left her face the entire day).  Her joy was contagious and spread to anyone who came within sight of her.  Ross and his groomsmen were all from North Carolina.  Their charm and mischievous ways made me flash back to my time in DC where a good many of our friends hailed from NC.  Photographing this group was a hoot.

Thanks to Meghan, Ross, and their friends and family for welcoming me so warmly.  I had a blast working with you all and can’t wait to put together your albums!

Below are some images from the day.  Click here to see a slideshow of the highlights from the wedding.
