Inn on Peaks Island Wedding
October 22, 2009Kristina and Derrick came to me by way of Loni and Jess. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, Thank you for sending these two smitten kittens to me!
Kristina and Derrick are exactly the kind of couple I like to work with — they are sweet, kind, bubbly, and open to my sometimes odd-ball ideas. I was thrilled to be working for the first time at the Inn on Peaks Island. The day was glorious albeit a bit windy and chilly. I rode the ferry with the groom and groomsmen, shooting away. Derrick and the guys were cool under the spotlight and seemed at ease in their paparazzo moment. On Peaks I found the bride and her mother and bridemaids giddy with anticipation. I also found Judy, of Flora Fauna, and her associate hard at work putting together their extraordinary floral designs.
The next couple of hours were a blur of laughter, hugs, and tears. Many a glass of champagne was raised in Kristina and Derrick’s honor. Their friend, Bruce (aka DJ Thunder), worked everyone into a frenzy on the dancefloor with his great playlist. And as my time drew to a close, I raced down the road to catch the late night ferry home with a bag of full memory cards and a tinge of regret that I’d forgotten to fill a to-go box with some of the delicious goodies Kristina’s grandmother had baked.
Below are some images. To see the highlights of the day, check out the slideshow. Friends and family, contact the bride or groom for the access code to the online gallery.
