Sometimes weather poses the biggest challenges during a photo shoot. With this one, we actually had to cancel it twice due to the crazy rainy May we had here in Maine.  We almost bailed the day we got these images because of thunder and potential tornado warnings.  And then Miss Shay climbed up on the sea wall and I saw the first photo below and knew it was time to get out the camera.  We spent the next hour getting sandy and having fun dodging waves and taking pictures.  It was as much fun as you would expect a photo session on the beach with these sweetie pies would be.

When Jen contacted me about doing a late November portrait session in York, Maine I thought we’d be bundled in woolen coats and mittens.  But thankfully Mother Nature obliged us with some moderate temps that let us take our time (much to Buddy’s dismay).  Jen and Buddy wanted to get some informal portraits at the beach in York where Buddy grew up.  I was unfamiliar with that particular strand of beach so we agreed to meet in the parking lot at nearby Cape Neddick Lobster Pound.  Much to my delight I found the place deserted — off season Maine at it’s finest — and a photographer’s dream.  Behind the main parking lot stands a perfectly weathered fishing shack completely covered with lobster pot buoys and old oars.  I am so delighted to have met Jen and Buddy, and these pictures are some of my favorites.

Here’s the third session with sweet little Edwin (see the second shoot).  We met up at Fort Williams in Cape Elizabeth on a damp October morning.  It would have been a dreary way to start the day, but with a smile like Edwin’s it just wasn’t possible to let the weather bring us down.
