When Melissa inquired about having me photograph her wedding, she told me she’d been referred by a dear friend, Rebekah.  Would I consider a wedding on the Cape she asked.  Heck yeah!  More importantly, I just knew that Melissa was a going to be a warm, kind, and creative person (i.e. awesome client) by her association with Rebekah.

Both the ceremony and reception was at the Captain Linnell House in Orleans, MA.  They run a very efficient ship there and offer a pretty outdoor ceremony site.  It’s located just up the road from Skaket Beach, where Melissa spent her summers growing up.  Melissa and Rob were keen to get some portraits down on the beach.  It was sunset, the timing was perfect.  Except we failed to consider the little biting bugs.  These bugs made the beach intolerable and forced us to retreat back to the Capt. Linnell House — but not before we got some really great images.

I had such a wonderful time working with Melissa and Rob and getting to know them and their families.  Click here to see a slideshow featuring some of my favorite images from their wedding.  Congrats to the newlyweds!  Hope you indulged in plenty of gelato (bacio flavor, of course) while on honeymoon in Italy.

A Belgrade Lakes Wedding

September 15, 2010

Beautiful bride.  Perfect summer afternoon.  Lakeside ceremony.  Yeah, I know, hard to hate my job.  Nadine and Jamie were married in a personal lakeside ceremony officiated by the groom’s cousin.  Guests crossed the street and headed to the Village Inn for a tented reception.  I had never been out to the Belgrade Lakes region.  I love how in Maine you can live at the seacoast and drive an hour away and find yourself on a stunning lake.

Congratulations to Nadine and Jamie.  They were a joy to photograph.  Below are some of my favorite images, but make sure you check out their slideshow to see the highlights from the entire event.

Elopement at Nubble Light

September 1, 2010

Jenn and Jodie originally contacted me about photographing their 200 guest wedding at a nearby venue on 10/10/10.  This particular venue penalizes couples for bringing in outside vendors (boo), and Jenn decided they would just have to go with someone through the venue.  Fast forward many months.  Jenn and Jodie did a complete 180 and instead started working on plans to elope at the Nubble Light in York, Maine.  I could not have been more thrilled to receive that email from Jenn, asking me to photograph it.  So it was that I packed up my gear on a Tuesday and headed down on a perfect Maine summer afternoon to shoot my first ever elopement.

Nubble Light (Sohier Park) is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike.  There was not a chance that this would be a private ceremony.  The crowd politely cleared off the rocks and kept a discreet distance from us as Jenn and Jodie exchanged vows and rings.   Afterwards Jenn and Jodie happily allowed me to photograph them to my hearts content. We had to race the quickly setting sun, but I think we managed to get some amazing images.  My hope is that their friends and family who were not able to witness the ceremony feel like they are reliving a part of it with these pictures.

Congratulations to Jenn and Jodie!  I look forward to seeing you all in December when Baby arrives!
