I headed down to the Nonantum for the second time this season. The difference between May and August was astounding.  The flower gardens were in full bloom, and kayakers and boaters meandered past the lighthouse at a leisurely pace befitting a hot summer day.  I wanted to linger amongst the huge dinner plate dahlias and fragrant herb gardens, but duty called.

I found Meghan and was instantly struck by her amazing smile (that never left her face the entire day).  Her joy was contagious and spread to anyone who came within sight of her.  Ross and his groomsmen were all from North Carolina.  Their charm and mischievous ways made me flash back to my time in DC where a good many of our friends hailed from NC.  Photographing this group was a hoot.

Thanks to Meghan, Ross, and their friends and family for welcoming me so warmly.  I had a blast working with you all and can’t wait to put together your albums!

Below are some images from the day.  Click here to see a slideshow of the highlights from the wedding.

Wedding Books

July 27, 2010

These two beauties just arrived this week.  I’ve been working on the books from Chris and Kim’s Camp Hammond wedding, and it’s always such a thrill to see the finished products.  Chris and Kim’s 10×10 Signature Book features soft wine-colored leather and a 4×6 inset black and white photo.  They chose to imprint the spine with their names.  Kim’s mother’s book is a 10×10 Coffee Table Book.  That book features Vintage brown leather with cursive foil stamping in gold.  I love how both of these books turned out, and I can’t wait to ship them off to everyone.

The book on top is the Coffee Table Book.  The one on the bottom is the Signature Book.  Both have 30 sides.

This 10×10 Coffee Table Book has Aviator Vintage leather on the cover and cursive foil stamping in gold.

The pages of the Coffee Table Book feature a lay flat binding.

This Signature Book has Rustique Wine leather with a 4×6 black and white inset photograph.

The spine imprinting is done with Modern font in all caps with a space between each letter.

The bride and groom chose The Nonantum in Kennebunkport for their wedding venue.  It’s a charming inn on the river that offers peace and tranquility to guests as well as close proximity to the boutiques and galleries in town.  The ladies got ready at Fringe Salon.  They sipped mimosas while the expert staff worked their hair styling magic.

Back at the Nonantum I managed to grab some stunning shots of the bride in the bridal suite.  She’s not even wearing her dress in those head-and -shoulder images and yet she looks like THE quintessential radiant bride.  I met the groom and his groomsmen out on the lawn.  Somehow between the lobby and the shady spot under the huge pine tree where we stopped for pictures, the groom lost the calla lily to his boutonniere.  Great comedy ensued as the men attempted to cobble together some sort of white flower mess to pass as the boutonniere the bride had ordered.  Let’s just say, the visible rubber band might have alerted her that something was up.

Shortly after we finished shooting the guys (under gorgeous blue skies), everyone took their places for the start of the ceremony.  Right on cue a thick fog rolled in, shrouding the river views.  It was romantic and very typical of Maine to have fog come and go and then return again within a couple of hours.  Unfortunately we found visibility at the beach to be nil.  So much for images with the rocky Maine coastline in the background.  The bride and groom didn’t skip a beat, and we got some super romantic and soft images of them.

I had a blast shooting this wedding.  It was a perfect kick off to my 2010 wedding season.
